Gabby Petito
I recently watched a new Netflix American Murders documentary and it broke my heart in two. When I started watching the documentary I had already partially heard of Gabby's story but never fully sat down and in depth studied it. Now, before I share, it's important you know Gabby Petitio's story - I suggest you watch the documentary as I don't do the story enough justice but I'll try. Gabby was a bright girl, she fell in love with a BOY a year or two older than her and her dream was to travel the world, with him especially. While preparing for her travelling she was working. She enjoyed working and became friends with people there. She also became very close friends with others during that time aswell. Brian (her boyfriend) grew very spiteful toward her new relationships, he would sabotage all the plans she had made with others and even lead her to quitting her job. He isolated her from society and blinded her from his manipulation into making her do that. They later bought a Ford Transit van and began to travel around the US. We will never the severity of what happened behind the scenes but we know for a fact Gabby was a victim of a domestic violence relationship. When the police had been called on them after a witness saw Brian hit Gabby, they got pulled over. They talked to both Gabby and Brian that day and labelled BRIAN as THE VICTIM? He was sent to a domestic violence survivors hotel for the night and Gabby was left vulnerable and alone in the van. They met up again later that day. Gabby had always vlogged their van life in the hopes of vlogging their life and travels to the world of YouTube. Brian never liked this and this became a topic of argument. Gabby swore she could achieve her vlog goals better without Brian. They mutually (I believe) decided to split up that night, Gabby at a camp with the van, and Brian hiking in the wilderness. After a couple days Brian was picked up while hitchhiking and asked to be taken to the camp Gabby was staying at. The woman offered to drive him all the way to the camp but be insisted her not go any further than the front entry. Gabby then went missing. For the first couple days it was a missing COUPLE until Brian was found safe and sound at HOME. So he was with Gabby, she went missing, and he flew home. WHY DID HE FLY HOME? Very shortly after Gabby had gone incognito Brians phone records showed a 1 hour phone call with his parents and following shorter phone calls. It is apparent, Brian then flew home. And when police tried to get any information they could only 48 hours MAXIMUM after Gabby was missing his parents had an attorney and refused to cooperate with the police. Skipping some details; Brian then went missing. A letter was found from his Mum along the lines reading, "Burn after reading. If you had a body needing burying I would bring a shovel and if you were in prison I would bake a cake with an (something for him to escape) inside of it." And other additional heavily disturbing things. Only a day after Brian was "missing" his parents went to the same campsite Gabby went and found Brian's decomposed dead body in under 5 hours. How had he decomposed that quickly? How did his parents find him that quickly? SO many questions left unanswered. Gabby's body was found in the wilderness, rotting away. Brian admitted to killing Gabby as 'taking the pain away' in his suicide note. Many strongly believe this is untrue - me icluded. I believe as Brian was a violent character, he found out Gabby was planning on leaving, murdered her in fustration and anger after sneaking up on her in the camp (explains why he didn't want to be driven the full way) then fled back to his parents house ASAP, planned a way to escape the mess, framed his death and lives to see the day. I agree saying Brian alive is unnecessary re-carriation of the situation leaving Gabby's family restless, but I honestly do not think it is possible for a body to decompose that quickly and Brian's family so obviously know what happened that night and were so off from the get go. So I honestly can't deny believing Brian is still alive today. Gabby was the brightest girl with biggest aspirations and I will always strive to live like she did. Rest in immense peace Gabby Petito. Let me know your opinions on this case. Edie out xoxoxo
